FAQs

ON-LINE ADVICE

How does your designer know what type of advice I need?

You will fill in a short questionnaire before our video call so your designer will be fully prepared about what areas of your home you need advice on. If you want the designer to look at any product links or drawings, upload them before the meeting and also have any fabric or tile samples ready for your call.

Can your designer resolve all my queries in one video call?

It depends on how many areas you need advice about. It is more common at your first meeting for our designer to advise you what actions to take, which might involve some further research or purchasing. So you will probably want to book further follow up calls or book in some time for the designer to source products for you.

How will I remember what the designer has told me to do?

You will be sent meeting notes after each video meeting.

Why Zoom? Can I phone instead?

We tried several video platforms like FaceTime, Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp and found Zoom to work best. If you don’t have it already, we will send you a link and it’s free for you to use. All you need is a computer, tablet or mobile phone and a good broadband connection. However, if you really don’t want to use Zoom we can speak to you on FaceTime or Whatsapp via a mobile phone.

Having an advice call on Zoom allows us to see your space quickly and lets you demonstrate your brief in real time. Calls are scheduled so there’s no queuing or leaving messages, not to mention it’s also a Covid safe way to work.

If I live in a 25 mile radius of Marlow can I have an advice meeting at my home and what do I need to prepare for your visit?

Yes you can e-mail us to arrange a time to meet and the meeting will last between 1 and 3 hours. We will take card payment at the end of each meeting using our portable card reader. You will receive our short questionnaire by e-mail before our meeting date and you an send us any photos or drawings of your rooms too.

COLOUR

How will I know if the colours chosen by your experts will work in my actual room?

The final stage of the colour choosing process is to buy tester pots from the manufacturer or local decorating store of each colour specified. Try the colour direct to the wall in dark and light areas of the room. If your existing wall is not white then paint on to white card and stick it to the wall. This is the only way to see the true colour and how natural and artificial light changes it. We advise never to buy the large tins of paint until you are happy with the result of the tester pot.

What if I don’t like the colour after painting with tester pots?

If you are still not sure about one of your colours because you want a shade darker or lighter or a more warm or colder tone of colour then we will be happy to specify an alternative colour free of charge. However if you decide you want a complete colour change because you have changed your mind, you will have to pay for our consultancy time again for that room.

SPACE

If I already have a proposed layout from an architect, can I use this design or do I have to use your designed layout?

We can produce 2D and 3D drawings from your architect’s layout, you just need to send us the ‘DWG’ file.

We will ask you if you want us to re-create the proposed plan in 3D and then add furniture or if you would like our experts to tweak the design internally to improve on the flow or to meet your needs more closely. Our designers would not make any drastic changes, only minor details like position of internal doors, patio doors, windows and internal stud walls.

Can you include some of my own furniture in the layouts?

You can provide us with dimensions of any pieces of furniture and we will draw pieces to scale in the layout. However please note in the 3D drawings we can’t change the colour or shape of the furniture from our standard templates to match your furniture but we can put the correct size in the drawing.

Can I choose what flooring and wall finishes are in the 3D image?

You can specify the type of flooring and location in the questionnaire. The three types of flooring are tile, carpet or wood.

For wall finishes we leave them white as standard but if you ask us to choose paint colours for the room we can add these to the walls in the drawing.

What if I want to make some changes to the layouts produced?

From our experience you should only need one set of revision’s to your drawings. That is why we will send an initial 2D plan of the layout first for you to respond to by e-mail. If changes are needed, we will adjust the plan and send you your final drawings.
